OSU AIChE Student Chapter

Welcome to the Oregon State University American Institute of Chemical Engineers Student Chapter!

Introduction

Oregon State University is located in Corvallis, a vibrant college town of 51,000 people in the heart of Oregon's lush Willamette Valley. The climate is generally warm and sunny from April through October but cool and rainy in the winter.

The snowcapped Cascade Mountains with their many downhill and cross-country ski areas are a couple hours away to the east and the exciting Oregon Coast with miles of sandy beaches is an hour to the west. Portland, Oregon's largest city, is 85 miles to the north, and Eugene is 40 miles to the south. Both cities have outstanding performing arts centers that draw some of the world's top entertainment attractions.

As an AIChE Student Chapter, Oregon State is very involved in both at the National & Regional levels. After co-hosting both the 2001 & 2003 AIChE National Student Conferences in Reno, Nevada and San Francisco, Californa, respectively, Oregon State University is a regular at National AIChE events. At the regional level we hosted the 2005 Pacific Northwest Regional Student Conference in Corvallis, Oregon, and work closely with the AIChE Oregon Section, hosting guest lectures and presentations regularly. Accepted nationally as having one of the greatest outreach programs to the High School level, we are continually recruiting new Chemical Engineering students from northwest area high schools.
