Member's Meeting Minutes November 09, 2006

- Elections There are positions available within CBE including:
Co-Business Managers (4 total)
Responsibilities of this group include all fundraisers, especially the store. A group of managers will help distribute work load and prepare next years managers. The store is important as both a service to Chem/Bio/Env Engineering community and a fundraiser for CBE.
-- Newly elected managers: Tyler Roberts, ChE, Ryan Stilwell, ChE, Rachel Bywater, BioE, Kayla Pierson, ChE, Greg Newbloom, ChE
BioE Senior Representative still looking
- Battle of the Bands 11/17/2006:
CBE will be co-hosting this event which is sponsored by Rogue Brewing and benefits Smiles. There is the potential to earn as much as $1000 in exchange for volunteers: passing out flyers, setting up, and providing general assistance.
- Welcome First Year Representatives:
Michelle Adlong (EnvE), Michael Jee (ChE), Kayla Pierson (ChE), Kelsey Childress (ChE), Jenna Wilson (BioE), Paul Dornath (ChE)

- Business:
Some money issues still need resolving, but Kelly and Warren went to talk to the MU accountants and both Elsie and Brad are signers.
The fridge is now stocked and will be open daily from ~8am-6pm. There are a range of snacks, all $.50. Brad will talk to Andy Brickman about putting a lock on the fridge.
- Integration of EESO:
Meet America, an officer of EESO who just returned from co-op.
Only upperclassmen are in EESO currently as freshman and sophomores are in CBE. She is curious of how CBE works and how environmental engineers and EESO are involved, including how the organization is governed and how money is distributed. Environmental Engineering is in a transition right now, but will eventually meld into the Chemical Engineering department and student organization CBE.
- Next meeting:
Thursday January 18, 2007
"An Inconvenient Truth" + Pizza
Member's Meeting Minutes January 18, 2007
Recording Secretary: Kendra Seniow
- Sun River Trip:
How many people are interested? Passed around a tentative sign up list.
Since most people wanted to bring friends, this will be OK, but they cannot receive any CBE funding.
Is there anyone who has a house in Sun River?
The trip is scheduled for March 2-3 (week 8)
- Guest Speaker suggestions:
If anyone has suggestions for guest speakers, email Kari.
- Scheduling Issues:
There are multiple conflicts for meeting times including freshman and senior labs.
Tentatively, general meetings will be at 5pm on Wednesdays every other week. Officers meetings will remain at 4pm Thursdays on off weeks.
- "An Inconvenient Truth":
with popcorn and pizza
Officer's Meeting Minutes January 25, 2007
Recording Secretary: Kendra Seniow
- Meetings Times and Dates:
Should officers meetings be at 3pm Thursdays? No, they will remain at 4pm.
- Sun Rive Trip Kyle Robinson:
No one has access to a house and suburbans rented from motorpool are $180 for the weekend. They hold 8 or 6 comfortably with gear.
We need to know how many people are coming so we can reserve a house (we can have people sleep on the floor to save money) and cars.
CBE will cover the cost of the house while participants pay the rest.
Final Decision: There will be 17 spots (2 cars + Kellys for equipment) filled at a first-come first-serve basis with a $20 deposit.
- Recap from SBE Conference:
Will be Wednesday January 31 @5pm (during general meeting)
Healthy food is preferred, though pizza is cheaper. Kelly and Anna will go to Costco and spend no more that $50.
- Regional Conference (April in Montana):
Since OSU did not participate last year, we should be in an event (such as the ChemE Car Competition, but also poster and paper competitions)
The Car Competition would be fun and could qualify you for Nationals and earn you a scholarship.
The freshman representatives will announce this to the CHE 102 class and more details will be provided at next weeks general meeting.
- Treasurer:
Due to schedule conflicts, the current treasurer has had and will continue to have difficulty coming to meetings and performing duties. Rather than appoint or elect a co-treasurer, Vice-President Kelly Wilson will act as substitute treasurer and become co-signer on both CBE accounts.
- Business Manager:
Brad Eagleson resigns as Business Manager and nominates Greg Newbloom to take his place.
This position is technically a presidential appointment. Greg Newbloom is the new Business Manager.
- EESO Field Trip:
March 2 (Friday) EESO is planning a field trip to visit Portland-area Environmental Engineering firms. They plan to leave around 7am and be back by 5pm (in time for skiing)
Other future EESO plans include: meeting next Tuesday, T-Shirts, and a luncheon with new Environmental Engineering faculty.
- SWE Conference:
America attended the SWE Conference recently and would like to share what she learned, including a video about Yucca Mountain, at a future meeting.
