The Oregon State AIChE Officer Meetings are every Wednesday at 5:00pm
in the Gleeson Undergraduate Lounge. They normally last around 30 minutes, so

- Finances:
Todd gave us a great presentation on where all our money has come from and gone for the year. If you have any questions ask him to show it to you. He will also look into what we need to do for next year to get money from the school's club budget.
- End-of-the-Year-BBQ: June 6th:
June 6th, 4:00 or later, we will eat around 6:00, then seniors vs. the world softball game. AIChE will provide hambergers, plates, cups, etc but bring something from the list below:

- BBQ/Party:
End of the year bash will be on Friday June 6 at Avery Park (Skip do you have a spot reserved or should one of us call???) There will be food, folks, fun and chemical engineered beverages. Along with a seniors vs. the world softball game.
- Elections:
Vote now for next years officers (only 25 people have voted).
- Halsell Day of Service:
Friday May 16, 2003. Contact John Yoder or go to http://oregonstate.edu/groups/halsell/halsellday/index.html to see a list of many activities from elderly care, yard work, children services, health, etc that you can do with any free time on Friday to help out the community.
- IM Sports:
Softball, Sunday 2:50 at the IM fields (show up around 2:40). Soccer, Thur. 6:00 soccer fields. Ultimate Frisbee is over but we had a fun season and ended up 1-2.

- Family Science Nights at Elementary Schools:
These are fun family activities at each of the elementary schools. We go there and play with kids (and parents) for a couple of hours (usually in the gym. We will be three of about 15 different activities in a "carnival booth" format. Always entertaining and a great way to get kids excited about science. I need 3-6 volunteers for each night. We will do the usual -- Gel Beads, Baby Diapers, and Silly Putty. I can be at every one but SILETZ because I'll be in D.C.

- AIChE Elections:
Jim Parker will collect the nomination and make ballots before the next meeting.
- JENNY ADKINS:
Update the list of what we have done this year as a chapter!!!
- Budget:
Todd (Treasurer) the Treasurer-Elect, and the President-Elect will make a budget for next year so we can get funding from the Student organizations on campus again next year.
- Year End Reactor:
We have people to do most articles if you have an idea see Sean, also Jim will assist Sean in making this Reactor and take on the responsibilities of Editor next year.
- Year End BBQ Bash:
Mark Friday June 6th on your calenders for this years softball and bbq fun. (Skip do you have the spot reserved?) We will finalize who brings what food closer to the date. Kevin and Clint are leading us in the beer brewing and more info on dates to help out with that will follow (maybe this weekend).

- Meeting Time:
Meeting this term will be WEDNESDAY at 4:30.
- Regional Conference:
Sarah has confirmed the rooms at the YWCA. We will have a mandatory meeting later this month, TBD for the purpose of assigning conference buddies, etc. The car team is also looking for additional members for the pit crew, contact Austin or Chandler if interested.
- Community Service:
Habitat for Humanity is this Saturday, April 5th. We will be meeting at noon at 5th and B street off of Western behind Dairymart. Bring gloves and safety glasses if you have them.
- Plant Tour:
Saturday, April 12th a tour of five breweries is scheduled. Breweries are in Eugene and all within walking distance. Transportation is being arranged for the trip, details next week. Sorry, no minors this trip.
- Internships:
Weyerhaeuser is hosting a Pizza Feed Thursday April 3rd, at 5:30. Scott is getting the pizza from Figaro's if he doesn't get any objections.
- IM Sports:
This term we will be having men's soccer, men's softball and ultimate frisbee. The men's teams will allow women to participate but removes the silly forfeiture rule for not having enough women on a team. Sarah has volunteered to coach the Ultimate team, Scott the soccer and Jason the softball. Look for sign-up sheets by the end of the week.
- Outreach:
The Science Olympiad Judging is this Saturday from 10-2 in Albany. Sarah, John and Julie have volunteered to go. The next outreach will be Tuesday, April 8th. This is to Yamhill High, Skip needs 4-5 people from about 10-5. Announce in classes, somebody might only have an 8 o'clock on Tue.
- Graduation:
Sarah is forming a committee to help plan graduation for Seniors, contact her or Dawn if you want to be a member and plan the events. We will also begin collecting numbers for attendance and spouse information for awards and such.

- Attendance:
Hey all attendance was lacking (Adam where were you?) this week but we had some good discussion anyways. Next week there is no meeting so all you slackers have an excuses now.
- Habitat for Humanity:
April 5 (Sat) from ~12-4 in Corvallis. Come if you would like to help. Jim is heading this up so send him an e-mail if you would like to join. No experience is needed.
- T-Shirts:
Last call for re-orders is this friday March 14th. See Sean with questions.
- Regionals:
We will be meeting at 11:30 pm on Thur. April 24th, then right at mid-night to celebrate Sarah's birthday we will all head out on an 8 hour journey. We will be taking 2 15 passenger vans and a car. We might get more vans if more people come (hey more people come!!!). As of now we have 33 people. We should arrive in Canada around 8 or 9 to get registered and start the fun. Bring a pass-port or birth certificate an Orange OSU shirt, and nice clothes for the banquet oh yeah leave behind the illegal drugs, guns, and strong cologne. We will stay at the YWCA in downtown Vancouvers. Any other questions should go to Sarah Cook (cooksc@che.orst.edu)

- Cheap Textbooks:
John can order textbooks for ~$20 less than used at the bookstore if enough people are interested in a certain book. He would give AIChE a cut of his profits. Issues of legitimacy and how to organize this are still to be decided. For more info, email him (rice_boi503@hotmail.com).
- Regionals:
Sarah- please make reservations for 30 people. If you have already registered for regionals, please email Sarah to let her know so we can start getting final numbers. If you have not already registered, go to www.aiche2003.com and register. The end date for early registration was last week, but you can still register. Give the money to Todd so we can send a group check. Announce in class.
- T-Shirt Reorders:
If you didn't order the first time around, http://www.aichebooks.com/Shirts/ will be open again until March 14. The sizing discrepancies from the first order will hopefully be worked out. Announce in class.

- Regional Conference:
All those interested in attending the Regional Conference in Canada need to register by Friday. www.aiche2003.com is the web address, the $30 + $7 for the pub crawl can be mailed out in one big check by Todd Marks, otherwise it is pay at the door and no pub crawl. Announce in Class.
- T-Shirts:

- Pizza Feed:
Next Monday is a pizza feed given by the U of O material science guy, the time is sometime before senior lab... 6~6:30. Announce in Class.
- Beer Brewing:
Clint and Kevin have been nominated to contact Jeff from Fermentation Science to organize beer brewing, early enough so that the beer is perfect for the end-of-year-BBQ.
- Outreach:
Skip has organized an outreach this Saturday, March 1st. From 10-6 in Eugene, Emily and Jon may be available. Announce in Class. (People who commute from Eugene might want to help)
- Intramural Sports:
Intramural Sports for next term are going to be Coed Ult. Frisbee, Coed Softball and Mens Soccer (but women can play on the team if they want). Further details will be available next term.
- ChE Scholarships:
Forms are due April 10th. Kate wanted to remind everyone, so Kate, announce in classes.

- Business Managers Praise:
President Kirby thanked the Business Managers for doing an excellent job keeping the fridge stocked for the Senior Individual Report Hell Weekend Retreat.
- Shirts Update:
There have been 68 shirts pre-ordered. The order will be submitted next week. Pre-ordering is the only way to get sweatshirts and long-sleeved T's. Announce this in classes. Regular T- shirts in various sizes will be availible to those who do not pre-order.
- Pizza Feeds:
Two Pizza Feeds are scheduled for next week. Boise Cascade is here on Wednesday, Feb. 19th at 5:30 looking for two interns. Intel is coming Thursday, Feb. 20th at 6:00 to give an informational talk. Intel will also give a talk in Friday's thin films class. Announce in class.
- Othmer Award:
Dr. Skip will be awarding to some lucky Junior the Othmer Award to the department's outstanding Sophomore at the first pizza feed.
- Regional Conference:
Interested people need to early register on-line at the www.aiche2003.com website. Sarah Cook has been asked to reserve two, 15- passenger vans for the April 25-27 weekend.
- Engineering Week:
Monday at 7:00 we have two teams scheduled to represent the ChE department in the annual bowling tournament. I am sure we can take down the ECE's and the CE's with little trouble.

- Engineering Week:
The last week in Feb is engineering week if you want to participate in any of the activities talk to Todd Marks, there is going to be a bowling team headed by Chandler to compete in Monday nights (7-10pm) 1 time bowling tournament.
- Boise Cascade Pizza Feed:
Feb 19th Boise Cascade will host a pizza feed and talk to students.
- IM Basketball:
Coach Adam and the other PID players won their first basketball game of the season Sunday night. They will play again this Sunday at 9:15 in Langton. SHow up there or at GLSN at 8:45 if you want to join.
- Inform the ChE 102 Class:
What we learned at Nationals sometime soon hopefully next week. What day works best for people and who would like to help with this?
- T-Shirts:

- 3/1/03 Science and Engr fair:
Save the date so you can help out.
- Regionals - Vancouver, BC:
The weekend of April 25th (aka Sarah Cook's birthday weekend). We would like to take a lot of people and cost should be reasonable ~70.00 not including food is we stay in a hostel. We will drive in 2 motor pool vans like we did for Reno, and possibly a couple personal cars.
- Basketball:
Guys play at 9:15 at Langton on Sunday nights, meet here at 8:45 or there at 9:00. All guys are welcome you can sign up there...this means you Sam Young.
- Football against BIOEs:
at 12:30 on Sunday at the IM field next to the tennis courts. Just a fun game to get relaxed before the week, everyone is welcome: girls or guys friends, etc (dress in bad clothes).

- Departmental Update:
Skip talk some about the proposals made for the department and more alternatives will be presented next week.
- Outreaches:
Friday Jan 31: Stayton High School - Will need volunteers for half or all of the day.
Friday Jan 31: North Eugene High School is coming for an hour on Friday, Skip said he could take care of them.
- Pizza Feed (Feb. 19):
Boise Cascade is giving a Pizza Feed and Information Night, and then Interviews the next Day. E-mail Bob Morgan if you want to sign-up for an interview.
- 2003 National Meeting:
Sean is taking care of it...more info next week for committee
- Regional Conference (Apr. 25-27):
Regional Meeting in Vancouver, B.C. - Would like to take 30 people, but money is a problem. Sarah is looking into cost for transportation, lodging, and registration, will report next week. People are to brainstorm this week for possible was to earn/make money to help send people, and report next week.
- T-Shirt Design:
Thought that design should be changed so that it would have more universal appeal, and make people want to come to chemical engineering. New designs for T-Shirts are due in two weeks, and voting is in three.
- International Study Abroad (Jan 28):

- IM Basketball:
Sign ups are now on the lobby board. If you want to play sign up before next Wed.
- FE Exam:
The deadline to sign up for the Spring test is 1/15/03 (tomorrow) so go check in with the engineering office soon if you want to get all the paper work filled out and take the test.
- Outreaches:
Willamette Valley 1/17/03 10-12 at GLSN Wyatt, John, Julie, and Scott will be volunteering
Kaleidescope Saturday, 1/18/03 11:00 -12:30 (meet at 10:30 in the Glsn lobby) volunteers are Kriby, Austin, Wyatt, Todd, Jason, Julie, Kate, Sarah, Andy, and Drew Skip how many students will be reached out to at this event?
Stayton High the last week of Jan. either Tues or Friday works best for students.
- Chem CAD:
Student versions are available to put on your home computer if you would like for Plant Design. E-mail Nick if you would like to get a copy of it.
- Nationals:
We are in contact with the San Jose State Advisor and the student will return soon so expect to start working on it in the next few weeks.
- Habitat for Humanity:
If you are up for some hammer swinging fun e-mail Jim at parkerjm@che.orst.edu to let him now. Also next Wed. (of MLK week) OSU is doing a H for H project check with the MU office for more details.
- T-Shirts:
We have decided on the final design and Jim will be working with Skip to get the shirts printed.

- Hire a Chem-E:
Students will volunteer their time to work around the department and their pay will be given to the AIChE fund. This is something that will be worked out with Jordana. If you would like to volunteer an hour or more please reply to this and let me know.
- IM Basketball:
We will have a men's team this term (we can have a womens if we get enough interest). Sign ups will be in the student lounge sign up asap because the registration sheet is due soon.
- Fridge Report:
Wyatt informed us that the chapter made a $459.00 actual profit last term. We should have made $554.00 so there is some theft going on, 4.9% of the goods to be exact.
- Meeting Time:
We will meet every Tues at 5:00pm in the student lounge
- Historian:
The outreaches and events that we take part in need to be documented. Everything from last term needs to be updated. Skip uses this information to nominate the chapter for awards and other reasons that get us money so lets all help with this. We need activity, date, # of people attending, # of ChE's helping and any other info you can think of said at the meetings the week it happens, it will go into the minutes and Jenny can put it into a document.
- Outreaches:
Friday 1/10/03 Madison High School Outreach ~15 students here and ~5 ChE's helped Skip, Friday 1/17/03 Willamette Valley H.S. here with 10-12 students for an outreach 4 or 5 ChE's will help.
- FE Exam:
Student who want to take the FE Exam should go to the Engineering office in Bach. soon to get the details, the first meeting is Tues 1/14/03.

- Tutoring:
Wed. of Dead Week from 7-9pm in Wilson Hall's main lounge. If you can come to help freshman prepare for finals meet in the Glsn lounge at 6:45 or at Wilson.
- Outreaches:
The Springfield and Eugene area schools, Dec. 16th and 17th work best for people, volunteers Shawna, Julie, Janelle, Wyatt (if not called in to work), Adam Goracke, Chandler and any others please e-mail Skip.
- Book Buy:
Sean already has it all set up and will get it totally ready by finals week to use for next term. It will be a non-profit service to the department.
- IM Sports:
We lost in the semi-finals for football and are planning on having a men's basketball team (Adam G. manager), a coed basketball team (combined with the BioE's) and men's and coed indoor soccer teams (Jason manager) if there is enough interested people. Look for the sign up sheets early next term in the Main Lobby (not lounge) on the bulletin board.
- Finances:
Clint, Todd and Skip still need to pay for the Nationals trip.
- T-Shirts:
CHEMICAL ENGINEER will be written across the front and on the back it will say....What part of (complicated process to be inserted here) don't you understand?
Chandler will have the complicated process done and drawn up by next meeting to get shirts printing before next term.

We need to establish the "rules" for how this should be set up before the end of this term
- Jan Talbot:
She will be visiting us from U Cal. San Diego on Friday. There will be refreshments at 3:30 followed by a lecture from 4:00-5:00 and a meeting for students interested in Grad School at 5:00.
- Reactor Articles:

- T-Shirts:
We will be voting on the designs next week so if no others are turned in we will vote on the one we have
- Dept. Head:
Dr. McConica announced to us that she will be accepting a position at H.P. as a Chief Technologist beginning this January. This position will give her the opportunity to work with a multidisciplinary team in screening future products for H.P. She expressed her excitement about this step in her career and assured us we will be looked after as a department. During the meeting she invited us as students to speak to her with any question we might have via e-mail, appointment, or her office hours (monday afternoons). Congratulations Dr. McConica!
- Regionals:
April 25th-27th in Canada please mark your calenders now to prevent major conflicts more info on this topic as it gets closer
- Tutoring:
Wilson Hall has asked us to provide a few tutors to come to their dorm for a few hours during dead week. This is the engineering dorm so it would be in general engineering but mainly chemical engineering. Contact Adam Goracke if you might be able to help.

Trying for Oct. 22 Jason will head this with Skip
- IM Sports:
Volleyball games @ 7:50 on Tues nights meet in the lounge @ 7:30 to get ready (We lost a nail biter to ummm the other team tonight although we were more talented and had much better team spirit. Thanks for all who played especially freshman Sam Young and John Yoder you guys were great!)
Football games are @ 1:25 at the IM fields meet in the lounge at 12:30 to practice before the game. All are welcome even if you haven't signed up and especially if you are a woman.
- Classes without Quizzes:
We need an elevator operator on Nov. 1st from 8:30-9:10 (Jenny was volunteered for this let her know if you can do it since she has class at 9:00) and from 10:30-11:00 (Eilleen offered to do this time).
- Garbage in the Lounge:
Jordana will be getting some extra garbage bags to Jason and we volunteered to empty the trash in between the janitors since it is overflowing with the extra students around.
- AIChE Web Page:
Look into the competition for the web page because of the nice work Sean did. Also Jim is willing to help keep it going. We would like to print out a Reactor for after Nationals talking about the trip, the new officers, this years events to come, and the recent ABET activities.
- AIChE ID Cards:
Sarah will make membership cards for the local chapter before the meeting next wed.
- AIChE/BIOE Membership Drive: Oct 23:
Wed. October 23, 2002 at 5:00 in GLSN 200 for all new comers to sign up for the clubs and others to renew. Local registration is $5.00 but for freshmen; if they join nationals the local fee is waived. We will have registration cards so we can monitor who is coming to the events.
- Lockers:
Please e-mail adkinsjl@che.orst.edu, (Little Jenny,) and tell her which locker you use. If she has not been told by Monday October 21, 2002 the lock will be cut and the locker given to someone else.

- Intramural Sports: Oct 9:
We are going to try to have a Flag Football and Volleyball team. The lottery for game times and money are due Wed. 10/9/02 at 4:00. Todd will be manager for both teams.
- Lockers:
Wyatt will talk with the City of Corvallis about getting any old lockers from them. Jenny will determine if all lockers are currently in use and by whom to check for openings.
- Lounge Clean-Up: Oct 11:
Friday 10/11/02 afternoon we need people to clean up the lounge for ABET on Monday. Sophomores were volunteered to do the job but all others who can help please come and tidy up the place so we make a good impression. The fridge will be switched with the BioE fridge that is newer, before next Monday.
- ABET: Oct. 14:
15 students are needed to meet with ABET on Monday 10/14/02 from 2:30-3:30 in the Glsn Library. Sarah, Jason, Drew, Janelle, Kirby, Josie, and Tarek have all volunteered. If others can make it please talk to Skip soon.
There will be a lunch in with ABET on Monday from 12-1:30 Kate will be going to represent us since all seniors will be in 411 during the lunch.
- T-Shirts: Nov 12:
Designs will be due Nov. 12, 2002 so that we have time to pick one and get it made before Christmas break. Please spread the news to students to get designs in by the due date.
- Lounge: Oct 9:
There will be a meeting/activity to rearrange and fix up the Lounge with ChE's and BIOE's on Wed. 10/9/02 at 6:30. Anyone who is interested or can help come to the meeting.

Fall term meeting time is going to be Tuesdays at 5:00
- Nationals: Nov 1-4:
We have 10 airline tickets and some people who are getting their own. Need to raise money to support the trip ideas included Logos on T-shirts, manning parking for football games, and others. More to come.
- Student Lounge:
We need to have the lounge area cleaned up for ABET and the pool table gone (any takers?) The refridgerator needs to be cleaned out. After the meeting on Tuesday everything will be thrown away unless it has a name
- Sid Sipacki's Visit: Oct. 4-5:
Friday 3:00 refreshment and Welcome back to school for all students and Sid. This will be the time for all Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors to become an AIChE member. Freshmen and sophomore reps please announce to your classes. This is very important.
- Friday 6:30pm:
Pizza for Local/Student Chapter with a talk from Sid at 7:00
- Saturday 9am to 11am:
Donuts, Bagels, and Coffee Tailgate Party before the football game at 12:37
