  • Skips Suggestions for a new AIChE Meeting Structure:
We need to change our meeting structure to make them more effective. The general meetings that are done on Tuesday’s has grow to a large size that it is hard to get through our agenda in a timely fashion. The original meetings were also not designed for non-committee chairs to attend, others were welcomed, but the meeting is not designed to be informative. It was suggested that we have a general meeting every other week on Wednesday’s, started this week. These meetings would be in a more informative format that anyone in Chem-E could attend.
There would still be meetings for the executive officers where we would decide on what things need to be announced and what needs to be done in the following weeks.
  • Decision:
It was agreed upon by those in attendance that we would have a general meeting that would be more structured and design to be more informative, with some open forum time, and any voting that would need to take place. We also will try and have some type of event on that Wednesday, like Pizza, a speaker, or some topic of interest so more people will be interested in coming. These meetings will be held on Wednesday at 6:00 pm in GLSN 200, with the first meeting on Wednesday 10/5/04. There will be a pizza party and a general overview of AIChE and the events coming up this year. There will be a calendar placed on the AIChE board that will remind those which weeks are general meetings.
Also every week there will be an executive meeting for the 4 main officers (President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer) and Skip. Others may be asked to attend the meeting to talk about a specific topic, like business managers and the fridge, or if people have a topic that they would like to talk about at the meeting they may ask to come and talk. At these meetings we will discuss any topics that we feel we need to cover in more detail, or what we will be announcing / talking about at the next general meeting. Some decisions will be made at these meetings, but any important decisions, outlined by the constitution, will be announced at the general meeting with details and then we will vote.
  • Lockers:
We will be getting 100 lockers to be in GLSN. We will give first priorty of lockers to those graduating in Spring 2005. There will be extra lockers left over, that will then be signed up for by the rest of the students. Watch for signs posted to find out more details.
  • Regionals:
Shawna has drafted up a fundraising letter that will hopefully be sent out this week. If you have any contacts let Shawna know.
We are also thinking of doing a poster session during the BBQ as a way for people to mingle. The idea of doing a College Bowl was also thrown out.
  • T-Shirts:
    J. and John will be selling T-Shirts and once we get the money to pay back Skip we will do that.

After a set of time, if there are still lockers left they will go on a first come basis. Talk to Shawna or the other officers for more details. Shawna is on the council and we are going to try and stay involved. We need to some representatives that could attend meetings and report back to the group. John Yoder and Ben Hanken have volunteered to possibly do this.
  • Regional Conference:
OSU is hosting the 2005 Regional Conference this year. We need to ask for funding for the conference. If you have an internship this summer and you have a contact for possible funding let Shawna know or contact them yourself and report back to her. We will also need people to volunteer to help with the conference in April contact any of the chair heads to help in there area. There is also a meeting for the conference sub-chairs Thursday 9/30 at 5:30 pm. Meet in Gleeson. If you have theme that might work for a conference bring it next week or run it past Sean, we would like to make a final decision next week.
