The National Student Conference is four days of career information, social events, competitions, and fun. Student engineers from more than 100 schools will celebrate the chemical engineering profession, along with young member professionals, AIChE leaders, and industry professionals from numerous engineering specialties. This is a very special meeting because it also marks the centennial celebration of the AIChE’s founding one hundred years ago. Meet new friends and discover the benefits of AIChE membership!

One bit of exciting news from the AIChE National that occurred after our student contingent had already left for the return trip to Corvallis is the the OSU Student Chapter has been selected as the HOST CHAPTER for the 2006 Annual Student Chapters Meeting, to be held in San Francisco, CA!
We were selected because of the outstanding job we did at the last meeting in San Francisco, which was spearheaded by Sean Thomas. It's great that we will have Sean here through June to help this years committee get organized on this.
I am therefore appointing Sean Thomas to the prestigious role of as Special Assistant to the Faculty Advisor with specific charge for leading the organization of student committees related to the 2006 AIChE National Student Chapters Meeting in San Francisco, CA!
We will be looking for enthusiastic folks to help lead this effort, and we will need about 30-35 students at the meeting as VOLUNTEERS....so expect Special Assistant Sean to be seeking your help very soon.
Thanks....and congratulations!
Dr. Skip
At the AIChE meeting this weekend I was able to find out for sure from the SBE Executive Director that the OSU SBE Student Chapter is "officially" the FIRST Student Chapter to be established in the United States (and the world for that matter!)
Also, look for student scholarships and other benefits for students to be coming out in the next few months.
SBE will even sponsor a special award at the AIChE Student Chapter Chem-E Car competition next year for the Best Car using a Biological Reaction....just like we are doing with our first year students this year!
Cheers,
Dr. Skip
