Constitution
Article I Name
The name of this organization is the Oregon State University Student Chapter of the Association for Computing Machinery.
Article II Purpose
The OSU Student Chapter of the ACM is dedicated to providing services to three groups:
- The OSU computer science department, by bringing prestige and academic excellence the exemplary performance of its student body;
- The computer science student body, by providing opportunities to excel, through contests and activities;
- And to the members of the chapter, by providing leadership opportunities.
Article III Members
- Section 1. Active members shall be OSU students, faculty, or staff who attend at least 75% of meetings OR provide a regular service to the organization. Only active members are eligible to hold office.
- Section 2. All officers of the chapter must be "regularly admitted" students at Oregon State University.
- Section 3. Membership shall not be denied to any student, faculty or staff member on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, age, marital status, disability, disabled vertaran or Vietnam-era status.
Ariticle IV Officers
- Section 1. The officers of the organization will include at the minimum: president, treasurer, tutoring coordinator, lecture coordinator, contest coordinator, course coordinator, technology coordinator, and webmaster. Responsibilities of each can be found on the officer description page.
- Section 2. Officers will be volunteers who are active members of the organization.
- Section 3. Officers shall not be on disciplinary probation.
- Section 4. Officers shall be registered for at least 6 hours currently.
- Section 5. Officers shall have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.00 and not have been on probation for the most recently completed term prior to the term of election.
- Section 6. Officers shall have earned at least 6 credit hours in their most recently completed term. This requirement does not apply to first-term freshmen or first-term transfer students.
- Section 7. There will be no term limit set, and the same officer may serve in the position for consecutive years as long as active members agree to this by consensus or majority vote.
- Section 8. Officer elections will be held during the eighth week of Winter term, yearly.
- Section 9. In the event that two or more active members volunteer for the same office, the selection will be made by the current officers relinquishing power, in the best interests of maintaining an active chapter.
- Section 10. A graduate student must pay student fees and meet the same requirements as an undergraduate student with the exception that full time status shall be a minimum of 6 hours with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00.
