We have built an experimental domain name system hierarchy that we are using as a test bed for distributed model based diagnostic research. The test bed consists of 5 networked computer configured to simulate the actual DNS. We have effectively modelled 13 root name servers, 254 Top Level Domains, and 254 Second Level Domains. In this environment we hope to discover solutions to various problems in the DNS as well as develop distributed autonomous agents, DiBots, that will be able to navigate, predict, detect, and correct configuration and operational errors in Internet and networked computer systems. |
