Oregon State University’s EERI chapter had the opportunity to tour Peavy Hall while under construction. The building is a mass timber structure utilizing post-tensioned cross-laminated timber rocking shear walls as its lateral force resisting system. This type of rocking shear walls are not only a state-of-the-art innovative system, but they are the first in the world! OSU researchers will be monitoring the performance and behaviour of the new building through various sensors placed throughout at structure at specific locations. It was amazing to see, thank you to everyone who attended.
