Membership in the AGC Student Chapter of OSU can be an important beginning toward a student’s career goals.  In many ways, the benefits are intangible and immeasurable, but there are also so very direct and useful gains to be made.  Some of the specific ways in which students may benefit from membership in the AGC Student Chapter are listed below.  The more active the student, the more likely benefits are to accrue.

  • The opportunity to become more knowledgeable about the construction industry;
  • Contacts with other students of similar interests and career goals;
  • Increased interaction with CEM faculty and staff;
  • Contacts with contractors and opportunities to associate with them;
  • Relations with the AGC Oregon-Columbia Chapter staff, and access to their experience and services, and, by invitation, their events and networking opportunities;
  • Field trips to local area construction sites;
  • Member discounts on all national AGC publications, products and services;
  • Reduced registration rates at AGC State and National Conventions;
  • An opportunity to participate in the Annual Student Chapter meeting during the national AGC Convention;
  • The opportunity to win awards in the annual Outstanding AGC Student Chapter Contest; and
  • The opportunity to win state, and national scholarships.

How to Join AGC

 The easiest way to join AGC is to come a general or speaker meeting and purchase a membership at the door to gain access to all of the benefits of being an AGC member for the duration of the year. Memberships are $20, except during the annual October Membership Drive, when they are $10.  Cash or checks payable to OSU AGC are accepted.  AGC advertises for meetings through flyers, class announcements, and the weekly CCE newsletter.  Please contact any of the officers for more information, or see the event calendar for the next meeting.
