Welcome to the First-Year Council!

The Engineering Student Council (ESC) is excited to continue the First-Year Council for the 2026–27 academic year! Established during the 2025–26 academic year, this initiative provides first-year students with an opportunity to engage with ESC, develop leadership skills, and contribute meaningfully to the engineering community.

What is the First-Year Council?

The First-Year Council will serve as a subcommittee within the ESC, consisting of three dedicated first-year representatives. These representatives will play a vital role in supporting ESC events, gathering feedback, and engaging with the first-year class to enhance our programs. First-Year Council members will receive mentorship and hands-on experience in leadership and event planning.

Selection Criteria

We’re looking for enthusiastic, communicative, and team-oriented students eager to grow and make an impact. No previous experience is necessary—just a passion for involvement and a willingness to learn!

Responsibilities

  • Event Support: Assist with ESC event logistics, including check-ins and promotional activities.
  • Outreach and Feedback: Help distribute surveys and promote ESC events in classes.
  • Networking and Representation: Serve as a peer ambassador, encouraging other freshmen to explore engineering extra-curriculars.

  • Interviews: Selected candidates will be invited for an interview with the Vice President of Development and ESC members.
