Meeting Minutes

  • Open house last week was a bit short on volunteers, but we atracted some new members. As a reward, Elizabeth plans to bring cookies next meeting.

  • A Google Calendar is being made in each team to keep up with deadlines and get each car done and start testing well before regionals.

  • A schedule for each car is to be made to create deadlines for tracking on google calendar. The goal is to be much more organized than last year.

  • regionals happen in mid april this year in Canada. If you wish to go, the best way is to go to every meeting possible (absence due to exams are excused). You also must apply for a passport by the end of winter break to recieve it in time to go. For regionals members pay only for admittance, the rest (hotel and transportation) are covered by CBEE club.

  • Become a CBEE member as soon as possible. The 10$ due is to keep funding to chem-e car

  • Budget for each car is about 250$ this year

  • Determining who goes to regionals is dependant on who participates most in each car, who attends the most, and how many we can take. Last year about 12 people went to regionals. The maximum amount of people this year is not known as of yet.

  • One “expert” at 3-D printing has been placed on both teams.

  • The EDP for each team will be started as soon as more solid plans for each car is laid out, and it will be a living document to be edited as we go. For calculations especially, each portion of the EDP will be worked on as the cars progress, utilizing the journal to keep track.

Teams split for Individual planning

  • Innovative car

    • Smaller groups in charge of parts of the car (such as stopping mechanism, body, powering mechanism (hydrogen fuel cell), etc) brainstorm ideas for application.

    • Individuals will do an independent study of a particular topic, and will present it to the smaller group next week to decide upon an idea.

    • Some scheduling has been planned as well.

  • Chemical Car

    • Smaller groups were made, and ideas for each section were generated.

    • Next week ideas can be decided, and schedules can be made to add to the calendar.

Next week

  • Each member will take the safety test.

  • Ideas for fundraising will be discussed. Ideas so far include a Chem-E car pagent, and loaning chem-e car members to volunteer in other fundraising events where the proportion of chem-e car members helping will be the cut we get from the funds we help raise. More to be discussed next meeting.

  • Many members will be missing for the AICHE conference. The goal is to be productive nest meeting.
