The American Nuclear Society / Health Physics Society at Oregon State University is a student-led organization tied to the American Nuclear Society National Chapter. We host professional development events, research symposiums, social events, and provide volunteer outreach opportunities for all interested students. Most of our members are in the School of Nuclear Science and Engineering (NSE), though members of other departments within OSU are welcome to join. ANS OSU provides nuclear education and outreach through student involvement fairs, university and department organized activities, elementary school science fairs, and K-12 and public presentations.

ANS will start out the year with our outreach event "Cookies and Clubs", an event organized by OSU’s College of Engineering, targeted towards incoming freshmen and transfer students to better inform them of the different clubs on campus. Over the course of Fall 2023, we will carry out multiple events such as the fall barbecue, TRIGA reactor tours, trivia nights, and community road clean-ups. Before the pandemic began, we celebrated our 50th Anniversary celebration. Students, faculty, staff, and industry professionals gathered to enjoy a wonderful dinner, participate on a panel about the current state of nuclear power and research, and closed the evening with a delicious cake and networking time. After facing the challenges of online learning while returning to in-person activities, we have resumed these professional development opportunities and continue to provide resources to our students once again. As a student section, we believe in promoting the advancement of the nuclear science and engineering field within our members and the community.
