The Utility Engineering and Surveying Institute (UESI) team addresses a topographic mapping project with a presentation and four field tasks. Members gain experience with standard field and office equipment/procedures, teamwork, and project management skills.

ASCE Student Symposiums were reintroduced in an in-person format starting in April 2022. OSU ASCE participates in the Pacific Northwest Student Symposium (PNWSS) along with 18  universities from Alaska, British Columbia, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Washington. This year, the conference was hosted at Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana, and co-hosted by several other Montana schools. Our UESI team was able to take home first place in the regional competition, a feat made possible by our partnership with the Professional Land Surveyors of Oregon (PLSO) student chapter. This has qualified the team to compete in the national competition at the University of Wisconsin, in June of 2023.
